Financial assistance to install a CO2 refrigeration system – Supermarkets and convenience stores

Description:

This simplified component of the EcoPerformance program offers a subsidy to supermarkets and convenience stores that wish to install a refrigeration system that runs on CO2 , which is not very harmful to the environment.

Comments on Funding:

The maximum financial assistance granted by the EcoPerformance program for a project to install a CO2 refrigeration system is $ 100,000 per measure and cannot exceed $250,000 per site annually.

Financial assistance is limited to 75 % of eligible costs.

Eligibility:

To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:

Own or operate a supermarket or convenience store in Quebec;
Have a refrigeration system already in place at a site, or plan to install a refrigeration system at an existing or new site;
Install a new refrigeration system operating on CO2 ( R-744) and whose sum of the electrical powers of the compressors is less than 50 kW;
Install a new centralized refrigeration system;
Recover 50 % of the heat generated by the refrigeration system;
Maintain the measure in place for a period of at least ten years;
Have an annual fossil fuel consumption of less than 36,000 GJ .

A support service is available if you need help completing the financial aid application. Send your request for assistance by email, including your name and telephone number. A representative will contact you.

Step 1 – Submit your project
To submit your application for financial assistance, you must provide the following information and documents:

The EcoPerformance – Refrigerant Financial Assistance Application Form (XLS 1.16 MB) completed electronically in Excel format (save it before completing). The completed form must be sent and dated by the authorized signatory. The authorized signatory must be the owner of the site or, in the case of a business, must appear in the Registre des entreprises du Québec (REQ). If this is not the case, you will need to provide a power of attorney;
Power evaluation spreadsheet (also called refrigeration “schedule”);
Most recent electricity bill;
Fuel bills covering a 12-month period, if applicable (one recent bill is sufficient if it has a 12-month history).

Step 2 – Confirmation of project acceptance
If your project is eligible for the program, you will receive by email:

the date of registration of your project;
the date of eligibility of expenses;
the maximum amount of financial assistance that may be granted to you;
the payment request form.
Step 3 – Carrying out the work
You can now begin your installation work, which must be completed within a maximum period of 24 months .

Invoices dated 30 calendar days or less prior to the date your complete application was received may be accepted. Please check the expense eligibility date that was communicated to you.

Step 4 – Request payment
When the work is completed and the new refrigeration system is in operation, you must provide:

the payment request form in PDF format, completed and signed by an authorized person;
invoices relating to the installation of the refrigeration system;
the power evaluation spreadsheet (sometimes called a refrigeration “schedule”) updated according to the equipment installed.
Also provide the following photos:

New refrigeration system;
Nameplates of the new refrigeration system;
Refrigerated counters in operation (filled with food);
Recovery equipment with nameplates.
After validation of the documents, the financial aid will be recalculated and the final payment will be sent to you.

7. Invoices relating to the installation of the refrigeration system
8. Updated power evaluation spreadsheet (refrigeration “schedule”) according to installed equipment
9. Photos of the new refrigeration system
10. Photos of the nameplates of the new refrigeration system
11. Photos of refrigerated counters in operation (filled with food)
12. Photos of recovery equipment with nameplates
