Financial assistance to install an electric heating system in a greenhouse

Amount:

$100,000

Type:

Grant, Loan, Subsidy

Description:

This simplified component of the EcoPerformance program offers a subsidy to greenhouse producers who wish to partially or completely heat their greenhouses with electricity and thus reduce their consumption of fuel oil or propane.

Comments on Funding:

Financial assistance for a project to install an electric heating system in a greenhouse can reach a maximum of $ 100,000 per infrastructure (semi-detached greenhouse or individual greenhouse), without exceeding $250,000 per site annually.

Financial assistance is limited to 75 % of eligible expenses.

Deadline:

Continuous Intake. No specific deadline was identified.

Eligibility:

To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:

Have greenhouses already in place, expand them or build new greenhouses;
Make the partial or total electrical conversion of heating systems currently using propane, fuel oil no . 1 or fuel oil no . 2. For a greenhouse with no history of fossil fuel consumption, propane is a priori the reference energy source;
Install a new electric heating system that supplies one or more greenhouses;
Be connected to the Hydro-Québec network or to a municipal or cooperative network;
Have an annual energy consumption of less than 36,000 GJ.

Application Steps:

A support service is available if you need help completing the financial aid application. Send your request for assistance by email, including your name and telephone number. A representative will contact you.

Step 1 – Submit your project
To submit your application for financial assistance, you must provide the following information and documents:

The EcoPerformance Financial Assistance Application Form – Greenhouse Production (XLS 1.77 MB) completed electronically in Excel format. To do this, save the financial assistance application form on your computer before completing it. The completed form must be sent and dated by the authorized signatory. The authorized signatory must be the owner of the site or, in the case of a business, must appear in the Registre des entreprises du Québec (REQ). If this is not the case, you will need to provide a power of attorney;
Studies concerning the project of electrification of the greenhouse heating system (if available);
Non-electric thermal energy bills for 24 months. (Ideally, this period should cover two years of production. These are bills for all non-electric thermal energy sources used on site, not just for the greenhouse. This excludes biomass from the site unless it is the primary energy source for existing greenhouses, as well as fossil fuels used for vehicles, mobile equipment or the home. The delivery summary is preferred.);
Full electricity bill for 12 months. (Provide the latest electricity bill for the site following the last year of production, even if it includes residential consumption.);
For each of the greenhouses linked to the request:
Photos of the nameplates (if available and still visible) of each of the heating systems;
Photos of each of the existing greenhouses (interior and exterior).

Step 2 – Confirmation of project acceptance
If your project is eligible for the program, you will receive two emails:

First email (at the start of the analysis):
The date of registration of your project;
The date of eligibility of expenses.
Second email (at the end of the analysis):
The maximum amount of financial assistance that may be granted to you;
The payment request form.
Step 3 – Carrying out the work
From the first email received, you can begin your installation or conversion work, which must be completed within a maximum period of 24 months .

Invoices dated 30 calendar days or less prior to the date your complete application was received may be accepted. Please check the expense eligibility date that was communicated to you.

Step 4 – Request payment
When the heating systems are in operation, you must provide the following:

Payment request form in PDF format, completed and signed by the authorized signatory;
Invoices relating to the implementation of the measure.
For each of the greenhouses linked to the request:

Photos of the nameplates of each heating system (electric and others);
Photos of each of the greenhouses (interior and exterior);
Photos of related work (example: new electrical entrance).
For companies with a power requirement greater than 50 kW:

Letter from the electricity distributor demonstrating the company’s and site’s acceptance of the new rate offer proposed by Hydro-Québec. The document can be sent after the payment request if it is not available when the system is put into operation;
Amounts of financial aid received from other organizations or energy distributors.
After validation of the documents, the financial aid will be recalculated and the payment will be confirmed and sent to you.
