Technoclimat: Projet d’innovation pour la production de bioénergies (Innovation Project for the Production of Bioenergy)

By mmuise
Description:

The Technoclimat program offers financial assistance to support technology demonstration projects in Quebec in terms of energy and the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, either for the development of a pre-commercial innovation or for the testing a technology that is not yet available on the Quebec market. This component aims to support innovation in energy and the reduction of GHG emissions, specifically for the production of bioenergy.

Comments on Funding:

Funding takes the form of grants of up to:
- 50% of eligible expenses, for a maximum amount of $10 million per project for projects involving a pre-commercial technological innovation (technological readiness level 4 to 7).
- 25% of eligible expenses, for a maximum amount of $18 million per project for projects involving a first commercial production unit (technological readiness level 8 to 9).

Deadline: Continuous Intake
Eligibility:

The applicant can be any legal person or partnership having an establishment in Québec.

For a project to be admissible under the specific bioenergy production component, it must:

  • relate to:
    a) a pre-commercial technological innovation (technological readiness level 4 to 7) in the production of bioenergy. The total cost of the project must be between $6 and $150 million. OR
    b) a first commercial bioenergy production unit with a technology that has been demonstrated in an operational environment at a representative size (technology readiness level 8 to 9). The total cost of the project must be between $20 and $150 million.
    c) a technology that has market potential;
    d) a technology that has energy impacts or that reduces GHG emissions in Quebec.
  • be carried out in Quebec, unless sufficient justification demonstrates the need to carry out certain activities outside Quebec. In this particular case, the applicant from Quebec will have to manage the project.
