Valo-Capitale: Commercialisation de l’innovation (Valo-Capitale: Commercialization of Innovation)

This program offers a contribution to help companies deploy the marketing plan for innovative products or processes. The project must target to commercialize the results of university or public research through the deployment of a marketing plan, or the commercialization in a new market outside Quebec of the results of research or development in the private sector, or for digital arts and interactive entertainment companies developing an original creation for which they hold the intellectual property rights.

Comments on Funding:

Funding is a financial contribution of up to two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) per project.

Applicants must:

  • be incorporated private enterprises*;
    -*Individual enterprises and partnerships majority-owned by Indigenous people and located in the Wendake territory are eligible.
  • be social economy enterprises (non-profit organizations and cooperatives) primarily engaged in commercial activities;
  • have their projects’ commercialization in a new market outside the province of Quebec for private sector research and development; no restriction for university or public research.
  • have their headquarters located in the Agglomeration of Quebec (cities of Quebec, Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, and L’Ancienne-Lorette) and Wendake.

  • The "Technological Showcase - Pre-commercialization of Innovation" and "Valo-Capital - Commercialization of Innovation" components cannot be combined for the same project. Pre-commercial validation must be completed before submitting an application under the Valo-Capital component;
  • Social economy enterprises (non-profit organizations and cooperatives) failing to demonstrate sound democratic governance;
  • Applicants currently under bankruptcy proceedings;
  • Enterprises listed in the Register of Companies Ineligible for Public Contracts;
  • Applicants who have defaulted on their obligations related to previous financial assistance from the City of Québec within the two years preceding the application, after having duly been given notice to comply;
  • Applicants with outstanding debts to the City of Québec;
  • Projects of a discriminatory nature, controversial projects, or projects carrying a risk of negative image for the City of Québec;
  • One-time event-based projects are also excluded.

    Admissible Sectors of Activity:
  • Priority Sectors:
    a) Agri-food, food processing, and health foods;
    b) Digital arts and interactive entertainment, financial technologies, artificial intelligence, smart city technologies, or other digital products and technologies excluding services and consultation;
    c) Photonics-optics, measurement and control technologies, advanced electronics;
    d) Life sciences, biotechnologies, and health technologies;
    e) Clean technologies: water, air, soil treatment, eco-mobility, energy efficiency, renewable energies, green chemistry, waste management, enabling technologies, and sustainable development.
  • Strategic Sectors:
    a) Art, culture, and heritage;
    b) Insurance and financial services;
    c) Manufacturing, materials, industrial transformation, robotics, and industry

    d) Urban security;
    e) Tourism.
