Description:
As part of the Quebec Plan for the Valorization of Critical and Strategic Minerals (MCS) , in order to support companies in the field of mining exploration in the realization and development of projects aimed at the discovery of MCS deposits, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forests has set up a mining exploration support program for MCS. Launched in 2021, the program ended on March 31, 2024.
Comments on Funding:
The program provides for a total envelope of $1.7 million for the period 2024-2025. To date, four calls for projects have been launched and seventeen projects have been funded for a total of $3.8 million (see Documents section ).
The maximum rate of financial assistance paid by the MRNF is 50% of eligible expenses up to $400,000 per project. The calculation of financial assistance is detailed in the regulatory framework.
It is possible to participate in the program more than once, provided that each application relates to a separate project.

Eligibility:
be made in Quebec;
register as part of a MCS mining exploration project included in the Quebec PQVMCS list;
be linked to geometallurgical or geoenvironmental work;
not having reached the pre-feasibility study stage;
not have received financial assistance under another Ministry program;
include eligible expenses totaling at least forty thousand dollars ($40,000);
be financed by the applicant and/or by one or more external partners for at least 50% of the total amount of eligible expenses.
