Description:
This initiative aims to increase the interest of students at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Montreal in the practice of veterinary medicine in the Quebec biofood sector. It also aims to encourage students to practice in one of the designated regions.

Eligibility:
Eligible customers
Eligible persons are students registered full-time in the undergraduate doctoral program in veterinary medicine at the Université de Montréal (at the Saint-Hyacinthe or Rimouski campus).
Eligible internships
To be eligible, the internship must meet all of the following conditions:
Cover the following fields of veterinary practice in the biofood sector:
veterinary public health;
disease prevention and control;
animal care;
laboratory (diagnosis or pathology);
research.
Relate exclusively to one or more of the following animal species:
dairy cattle;
beef cattle;
pigs;
poultry;
small ruminants (sheep and goats).
Be under the supervision of a member in good standing of the Ordre des médecins vétérinaires du Québec who has a minimum of two years of practice in the biofood field.
Be carried out in one of the following locations located in the territory of Quebec:
a veterinary establishment;
a provincially regulated slaughterhouse;
the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Montreal.
Have a duration of 4 weeks of 35 hours each, for a total of 140 hours.
Take place during the internship period(s) planned during the summer following the request for registration for the initiative and defined by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ) or its representative.
Propose activities and tasks in line with the level of knowledge expected according to the student’s level of education.

Submit the registration form for studentsThis hyperlink will open in a new window.at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
Find an eligible internship environment and enter into an internship agreement with it by completing the Annex – Internship Agreement form (PDF 0.91 MB) .
Send the completed and signed Annex – Internship Agreement form to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
No later than April 8, 2025

Each document submitted to this platform must be identified with your first and last name and must be shared with the PROGFMV identifier. When a document is submitted to your space on the PSD platform, an email notification is sent to you.
Complete, sign and submit the financial assistance application form (XLSX 65 KB) to the Ministry via the PSD platform.
Attach to this request the form Annex – Internship agreement validated and signed by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine .
Once the documents have been verified by MAPAQ, an offer letter accompanied by the financial assistance agreement confirming the funding agreement for the internship will be filed on the PSD platform.
No later than 7 days after receiving the financial assistance agreement
Sign and resubmit the financial assistance agreement on the PSD platform.
Sign and send the direct deposit membership form to the Ministry of Cybersecurity and Digital Affairs by one of the means identified in the form, if desired.
Following this, the first payment of financial aid (70 % of the aid amount) will be made.
No later than 45 days after completing the internship(s)
Complete and submit the End of Internship Declaration form (coming soon) along with the Attendance Sheet on the PSD platform.
Following this, the final payment of financial aid (30 % of the remaining aid amount) will be made.
