Description:

Strengthen food autonomy by increasing horticultural production in Quebec through:

the increase in areas cultivated in greenhouses and under other shelters;
the modernization of existing facilities.

Comments on Funding:

Financial assistance can reach a maximum of 50 % of eligible expenses, up to $50,000 per applicant for the duration of the initiative.

Financial assistance is increased for projects involving products that are subject to organic certification or for those located in the Magdalen Islands agglomeration. It can then reach a maximum of 60 % of eligible expenses, up to $50,000 per applicant for the duration of the initiative.

Deadline:

The project submission period ended on February 1, 2025. No new applications will be accepted.

Eligibility:

Eligible Applicant
Eligible farms are farms that generated gross agricultural income of at least $ 25,000 in one of the last two years, at least 50 % of which comes from horticultural production activities.

Eligible projects
To be eligible, projects must meet these conditions:

Aim for an increase in horticultural production in greenhouses, under a large tunnel, under an umbrella shelter or in a closed environment in Quebec;
Belong to at least one of the following categories:
Construction or expansion of greenhouses, large tunnels or umbrella shelters;
Purchase of fixed production equipment that meets at least one of the following conditions:
Be related to the construction or expansion of a greenhouse, large tunnel or umbrella shelter;
Allowing the integration of horticultural production in a closed environment;
Allowing the integration of horticultural production into a greenhouse, large tunnel or umbrella shelter that already exists, but which is not equipped or fitted out for the intended horticultural production;
Modernization of existing greenhouses, large tunnels or umbrella shelters that aims to increase productivity or improve energy efficiency. Only fixed production equipment that has a direct link to productivity gains or improved energy efficiency is eligible;
Present investments of at least:
$ 20,000 in the case of a project belonging to the “ Construction or expansion of a greenhouse ” category (including the purchase of the required fixed production equipment);
$ 10,000 in the case of a project belonging to another category.

Application Steps:

To receive financial assistance, the applicant must send a complete financial assistance application to the Ministry . It

Other Things to Note:

Projects are submitted continuously until February 1 , 2025 or until the funds are exhausted, whichever comes first. All eligible and complete applications for financial assistance will be analyzed by representatives of the Minister.
