Ministerial initiative to limit climate impacts occurring in Abitibi in 2023

Description:

To partially cover the exceptional costs of animal feed and the loss of cash caused by climatic hazards that occurred in several regional county municipalities (RCMs) of Abitibi and a bordering part of the territory of the regional government of Eeyou Istchee Baie-James.

Comments on Funding:

Financial assistance is calculated based on the amount established per eligible person, based on the parameters specified below. Total financial assistance cannot exceed $50,000 per applicant, for the entire duration of the initiative. Financial assistance consists of a non-repayable contribution in the form of a grant.

Beef cows, dairy cows, slaughter steers
The eligible per capita amount is $ 150 .

The minimum amount of aid granted is $300 .

Sheep, goats and female alpacas
The eligible per head amount is $ 20 .

The minimum amount of aid granted is $300 .

When the maximum amount of eligible financial assistance is reached, no further financial assistance may be granted under the initiative, even if the legal form of the applicant is changed, with the exception of companies whose majority management changes.

Deadline:

The submission period ended on November 30, 2024. No new applications will be accepted.

Eligibility:

Eligible customers
Agricultural operations located in one of the following territories are eligible:

the MRC of Rouyn-Noranda;
the MRC of Abitibi-Ouest;
the MRC of Abitibi;
the MRC of Vallée-de-l’Or;
the regional government of Eeyou Istchee Baie-James.
To be eligible, applicants must, as of June 1, 2023 , have an up-to-date and complete Attestra file for all of their heads except those in goat or alpaca production.

Eligible projects
To be eligible, projects must meet the following conditions:

Aim for one of these productions:
dairy;
of beef cattle;
of slaughter steers;
sheep;
goats;
of alpacas;
Demonstrate additional purchases of forage or forage seed by submitting one or more paid invoices for these expenses between June 1, 2023 and June 1 , 2024.

Application Steps:

To benefit from financial assistance, the applicant must send to the Minister their application for financial assistance duly completed in
French2 and signed by the applicant or by a duly authorized agent, including the documents listed in the table below, no later than November
30, 2024.

Documentation Needed:

1; Completed and signed financial assistance application form;

2. One or more invoices demonstrating the purchase of fodder or fodder seeds between June 1,
2023 and June 1 , 2024
Completed and signed financial assistance application form 3. Verification of the eligibility of the applicant and the project, demand analysis
4. Verification of applicant eligibility

Other Things to Note:

Applications for financial assistance can be submitted continuously during the project submission periods published on the Québec.ca website.

Any complete application for financial assistance, for which the applicant and the project are eligible, will be subject to analysis.
