Description:

Financial assistance is offered to tourism businesses that are currently implementing projects that have several aspects that are difficult to finance. The businesses concerned must have been accepted into one of the support pathways in section 1 to access section 2. The characteristics of the financial assistance are:

Comments on Funding:

Non-repayable grant;
Maximum rate of financial assistance:
for non-profit organizations: 65%,
for other eligible companies: 50%*;
Maximum grant per company: $400,000**.
Goals

Benefit from direct, strategic and complementary financial assistance.
Obtain approval from donors.
Accelerate the realization of the business project.
Terms

Be accepted into one or other of the support pathways.
Having validated your business model and business plan with an expert.
Have all the required authorizations to begin carrying out your project.
* This rate could be increased exceptionally up to 65% subject to approval by the authorities prior to the submission of the application for financial assistance.

** The maximum financial assistance is $600,000 for a company that completes more than one support program.

Eligibility:

The following organizations can submit an application if they wish to carry out a tourism project that concerns the nature-culture-adventure axis:

For-profit organizations (NPOs);
Non-profit organizations (NPOs);
Cooperatives;
Municipal organizations;
Indigenous communities and nations recognized by the National Assembly;
Any grouping of these types of companies.
Business projects must be located north of the 49th parallel (including Anticosti Island). A project from a company whose head office is located outside this territory may be accepted if its activities or future project take place in the territory concerned.

The following companies, businesses and applicants are excluded:

Crown corporations as well as ministries and agencies of the government of Quebec or Canada (corporations controlled directly or indirectly by a government [provincial or federal], companies majority-owned by a Crown corporation);
Any applicant registered in the Register of companies not eligible for public contracts (RENA) and companies in recovery;
Companies under the protection of the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (RSC, 1985, chapter C-36) or the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (RSC, 1985, chapter B-3);
Companies which, during the two years preceding the application for financial assistance, have not met their obligations after having been duly notified in connection with the previous granting of financial assistance by the Ministry of Tourism, the Société du Plan Nord or another ministry of the Government of Quebec.

Application Steps:

In order for their application for financial assistance to be considered, the promoter must submit a complete file during the call for projects. To submit an application, the promoter must:

check if it is among the eligible customers;
learn about the types of eligible projects;
read the selection criteria;
complete the application form, available on the Nordic Incubator-Accelerator website This hyperlink will open in a new window., during project call periods;
participate, upon invitation, in an individual interview;
sign the letter of understanding formalizing the entrepreneur’s participation in the support process.
Selected entrepreneurs will be required to provide, upon request, information about their business, such as:

Three-year financial data and forecasts;
Financial statements for the last two years;
Planned marketing;
Market validation and target customers;
Business model and plan;
Photos of the facilities or the planned site.
