Description:
The Quebec Fisheries Fund stimulates innovation in the fish and seafood sector in Quebec and supports its development and adaptation.
The Fund is a contribution program jointly funded by the governments of Canada and Quebec. Funding for the program comes 70 % from the Government of Canada and 30 % from the Government of Quebec.

Financial aid
The amount of the contribution is determined based on the beneficiary’s request and the limits provided for in the accumulation provision, the maximum amount to be paid, the fair market value of the proposed costs, the funds available in the program budget and the evaluation of the project recommended by the Secretariat of the Quebec Fisheries Fund.
The beneficiary sets out in detail in his application the total costs of his project, in addition to specifying all sources of funds.
Maximum financial aid
The maximum amount of the contribution of the parties to be paid under the innovation and infrastructure pillars of the program is $2.5 million per project. The annual maximum amount is $1 million.
The maximum amount to be paid under the scientific partnerships pillar is $1 million per project. The annual maximum amount is $ 500,000 .

Eligibility:
Eligible customers
Groups and organizations established in Quebec that can benefit from this program include:
commercial enterprises, such as fishermen, aquaculturists and aquatic product processing companies;
industry associations and other non-profit organizations;
research and innovation institutions;
academics;
post-secondary educational institutions;
organizations or indigenous groups other than commercial enterprises.
To be eligible for funding, you must:
be a resident of Quebec;
have the legal capacity necessary to enter into a contribution agreement;
carry out or support activities related to the sectors of fishing or seafood harvesting, processing or aquaculture;
demonstrate the extent of the economic benefits that Quebec will benefit from.
Eligible activities
The Quebec Fisheries Fund supports projects submitted under these three pillars: innovation, infrastructure and scientific partnerships.
The following activities are eligible for innovation funding :
Research and development leading to innovations that contribute to the sustainability of Quebec’s fish and seafood sector.
Undertake pilot projects and test new innovations.
Undertake activities aimed at commercializing innovations.
Initiatives supporting the creation of partnerships or networks aimed at innovation activities in the sector, in accordance with the objectives of the Quebec Fisheries Fund.
The following activities are eligible for infrastructure funding :
The adaptation or adoption of new technologies or new processes or equipment to improve the efficiency and sustainability of the fish and seafood sector.
Provide training associated with the adoption or adaptation of new technologies, processes or equipment.
The following activities are eligible for funding for scientific partnerships :
Research on the impacts of ecosystem changes on fish stocks, distribution and commercial fisheries.
Scientific activities to support the implementation of sustainable fishing technologies.
Initiatives supporting the creation of partnerships or networks aimed at innovation activities in the sector, in accordance with the objectives of the Quebec Fisheries Fund.
