In order to benefit from the tax credit for carrying out a design activity (internally or externally), a company must obtain a certificate with regard to a design activity for industrially manufactured goods (or “certificate of activity”).

The following companies (corporation or partnership) are eligible to obtain a design activity certificate:

having an establishment in Quebec;
operating a business with gross income of at least $150,000 per year Read the contents of note number1 ;
carrying out or having design activities carried out in Quebec:
internally,
or by a consultant.
In addition, the company must ensure, beforehand, that it holds a qualification certificate for each designer or pattern maker who carries out design activities in-house. If the design activities are carried out by a consultant, your company must ensure that the consultant holds their consultant certificate.
