Section 1 – Agricultural Events and their Animal Judging Activities

Description:

Increase awareness of the agri-food sector among the population and promote the quality of livestock by supporting agricultural exhibitions and sector exhibitions in Quebec.

Comments on Funding:

Sub-section 1.1 – Agricultural exhibitions: Financial assistance can reach a maximum of 70 % of eligible expenses, up to $225,000 per applicant per fiscal year and $675,000 per applicant for the duration of the program.; Sub-section 1.2 – Provincial Animal Judging Finals: Financial assistance can reach a maximum of 70 % of eligible expenses, up to $95,000 per applicant per fiscal year and $315,000 per applicant for the duration of the program.

An increase in financial assistance of a lump sum of $10,000 per year may be granted to the applicant who hosts the provincial final of the Association des jeunes ruraux du Québec.; Sub-section 1.3 – Financial assistance can reach a maximum of 70 % of eligible expenses, up to $115,000 per applicant per fiscal year and $345,000 per applicant for the duration of the program.: Financial assistance can reach a maximum of 80 % of eligible expenses, up to $30,000 per applicant per fiscal year and $ 90,000 per applicant for the duration of the program.

Agricultural exhibitions and the Quebec Agricultural Exhibition Association.

Eligible projects
Projects that meet the specific objective of this component and satisfy the following criteria are eligible:

To generate public interest in the agri-food sector;
Popularize the particularities of a type or method of agricultural production or food processing;
Be carried out for the first time by the applicant;
To be carried out during an agricultural exhibition;
Plan instructive, interactive or demonstration activities.

Other Things to Note:

Eligible expenses are those directly linked to the completion of the project:

Professional fees of contract workers;
The share of the salary of the applicant’s staff or its partners corresponding to the time directly devoted to carrying out the project;
The share of social security contributions and benefits of the applicant’s or its partners’ staff corresponding to the time directly devoted to carrying out the project and representing either an amount equivalent to 26 % of the salary or another amount justified by an accounting demonstration by the applicant;
Related costs:
to advertising and communications;
to the purchase, design or adaptation of materials and equipment, up to 50 % of the financial assistance;
to the rental of rooms, machinery, materials or equipment;
Travel and accommodation expenses of the applicant, their partners or contractors, which must not exceed the scales in force within the civil service.
