Description:

Subsidy for buildings occupied by social economy businesses aimed at supporting the growth of Montréal-based social economy businesses.

Comments on Funding:

Financial assistance can cover as much as 40 per cent of the acquisition cost, up to $400,000.

An application can be submitted for both components of the program. If that is the case, the subsidy amount will be calculated for component 1, then for component 2, without exceeding a total of $400,000 for the same building.

Eligibility:

Applicants must be:
1. Social economy businesses in the agglomeration of Montréal that meet the following conditions:
–Must be a non-profit (NPO) or a co-op.
–Must be a social economy business within the meaning of the 2013 Social Economy Act: “Democratically-run organizations that combine economic viability with social objectives, while responding to the needs of a community of members or users.” As such, social economy businesses –Must show that at least 20 per cent of the income generated by their activities is autonomous.
–Must be the owner, future owner or tenant in the building or premises mentioned in the application.

Documentation Needed:

Applicants must provide the deed of sale for the building.

Other Things to Note:

A new eligibility period has been open since January 6, 2025, until all available funds are fully committed.
