Tax Credit for the Production of Multimedia Titles

The refundable tax credit may amount to 37.5% of eligible labour expenditures.

Description:

Eligible Québec corporations can obtain a refundable tax credit for their labour expenses incurred for the production of multimedia titles.

Funding takes the form of a refundable tax credit equal to 37.5% of eligible labour expenditures.

Eligibility:

Eligible corporations must:
1. have an establishment in Québec;
2. produce eligible multimedia titles:
a) Titles must be published on an electronic medium, controlled by software allowing interactivity, and contain a substantial volume of three of the following four types of information: text, sound, still images and animated images. Video images are considered as only one media component.
b) Related titles such as digital animation films associated with an eligible multimedia title produced by your corporation are also eligible. However, the labour expenditure related to the main multimedia title with which the related title is associated must be at least $1 million.
3. have production work in relation to a title refers to work carried out for the purpose of completing the production stages of the title, commencing with the design stage and indefinitely thereafter.
4. have eligible labour expenditures.

Application Steps:

1. Applicants must complete the application for an initial qualification certificate (in French) and the Application for a Production Work Certificate (General Component) (in French) and send them to Investissement Québec;
2. Once it has completed its review, Investissement Québec will confirm whether the applicants’ company is eligible.complete and send Investissement Québec the application for an authorized investment certificate;
3. If they have any questions, contact one of the Investissement Québec’s experts at 1-844-474-6367 .

Applicants must provide a completed application, and other required documents, as requested.
