Description:

The Commercial Boiler Rebate encourages the use of a high-efficiency natural gas condensing boiler to maximize energy cost savings while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Comments on Funding:

1. Condensing boilers will be calculated as follows:

a) $10 per 1,000 BTU/hr for the first 600,000 BTU/hr, and $3 per 1,000 BTU/hr for any amount above 600,000 BTU/hr of total boiler plant input with 90%+ AFUE/Thermal Efficiency in the replacement market.
b) $10 per 1,000 BTU/hr for the first 600,000 BTU/hr, and $3 per 1,000 BTU/hr for any amount above 600,000 BTU/hr of total boiler plant input with 95%+ AFUE/Thermal Efficiency for new construction.
c) maximum eligible rebate is $40,200 per building or property.

Eligibility:

Applicants must:

1. be a building developer, builder, building owner or owner’s designated representative. The Applicant must be a SaskEnergy commercial customer.
2. The facility or property where the equipment is installed must be located in Saskatchewan. The boiler must use natural gas.
3. Only eligible boilers under the Program qualify for a Program rebate (see section 4 for boiler eligibility criteria).
4. All equipment must be purchased from and installed by a participating SaskEnergy Network Member (“Network Member”).
5. Subject to SaskEnergy’s discretionary approval and availability of funding, applicants that, directly or indirectly, are operated or owned by, or receive their primary (e.g. 50% or greater) funding from, the Province of Saskatchewan or the Government of Canada are eligible to receive rebates under the Program (e.g. hospitals, schools, government departments and ministries, Crown Corporations, RCMP, RCAF, Service Canada, etc.) for installations completed on or after November 15, 2024.
6. SaskEnergy customers with an annual consumption in excess of 660,000 m3 are not eligible to receive rebates under the Program.

Application Steps:

Applicants must:

1. Contact a participating SaskEnergy Network Member
2. Apply: Your Network Member will complete and submit an application for pre-approval on your behalf. If your application is pre-approved, you and your Network Member will receive a notice of pre-approval and estimated rebate amount.
3. Complete Installation: You have one year from the pre-approval to complete the installation. Once the installation is complete, your Network Member will submit all final documentation to SaskEnergy for processing.

Applicants must submit:

1. Prior to Approval:
a) completed application form

2. After Installation:

a) completed Customer Satisfaction Acknowledgement
b) copy of the boiler start up report by the manufacturer or an authorized factory representative
c) copy of the sales invoice that shows customer and Network Member names(s), installation address, boiler make(s), model(s) and date of installation
