Business Capacity Grant

The Business Capacity Grant helps Saskatchewan-based business in one of the six creative sectors (Book Publishing, Craft & Visual Arts, Live Performing Arts, Film & TV, Interactive Digital, Music) expand, or become more efficient. This program supports projects that focus on developing business knowledge, improved efficiencies, expanded workforce capacity and business skills that result in growth, market expansion, and improved profitability.
Examples include:
1. attending an industry conference to strengthen your professional network;
2. hiring new employees to manage increasing workloads;
3. professional development courses.

Comments on Funding:

Funding will cover up to 50% of the approved project budget to a maximum of $25,000 per applicant per fiscal year (whichever is the lesser) or to a maximum of $50,000 per applicant per 24 months (whichever is the lesser).

Deadline: Application deadlines vary per creative sector.

Applicants must:

  • be Saskatchewan corporations;
  • be Saskatchewan individuals or residents;
  • be publishing books written by authors;
  • be active practitioners in one of the creative industries identified under The Creative Saskatchewan Act (2013) (see general guidelines);
  • demonstrate their intention to earn their living within their chosen creative industry, as well as their ambition to grow their business beyond their current status;
  • be in good standing (defined in the Glossary) with Creative Saskatchewan in all respects;
  • be Saskatchewan publishers who have produced a minimum of 2 books for commercial sale, distributed through at least 2 industry-standard bookselling channels, in the past 12 months.
