Description:

The Innovation Cluster’s STARTup Visa Program is one of Canada’s few rural business incubators backed by the federal government. They help entrepreneurs from other countries grow their businesses in Canada. This 15-month program, with a three-month acceleration program and a 12-month incubation program, helps create jobs and economic prosperity for everyone.

Eligibility:

Applicants must be immigrants who:
1. have a qualifying business;
2. get a letter of support from a designated organization;
3. meet the language requirements;
4. bring enough money to settle;
5. meet the following program requirements:
a) meet all Government of Canada requirements;
b) own a revenue-generating business that is innovative, sustainable and scaleable;
c) have a business within one of these sectors: Agriculture Technology; Clean Technology; Digital Technology; Healthcare Technology; or they have Intellectual Property rights;
d) be eager to live in Peterborough and Kawarthas after obtaining a start-up visa;
e) fully participate in all programming;
f) be determined, willing to learn, and able to work well with others;
g) be willing to sign three contracts:
i. a contract that says they will participate in the 3-month virtual accelerator program;
ii. a contract that says their business in the Province of Ontario for the first twelve months they live in Canada;
iii. a one-year service contract with the Innovation Cluster.
