Description:

The Tourism Business Mentorship Program provides opportunities and resources for interested NWT tourism operators (Mentees) to learn from and benefit from experienced Volunteer Advisors (Mentors). Mentorships are delivered through the Catalyste+ Organization and its network of executive-level volunteers with decades of specialized business knowledge and expertise in a wide range of business-related disciplines.
The Tourism Business Mentorship Program has two delivery options:
1. Face-to-Face Mentorship allows the Mentor and Mentee to work together on-site at the Mentee’s place of business. Each Mentee will receive a total of three days of in-person on-site mentorship as well as four days of mentorship from a distance using web and/or telephone on a schedule developed to suit their availability.
2. Virtual Mentorships involve the Mentor and the Mentee working together remotely with the use of web and/or telephone technology. Each Mentee will receive 49 hours of virtual mentorship on a schedule developed to suit their availability.

Comments on Funding:

1. Funding will take the form of grants of up to:
– $5,500 per person as per the agreement between Catalyste+ and the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) for Face-to-Face Mentorship;
– $2,600 er person as per the agreement between Catalyste+ and the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) for Virtual Mentorship.
2. Prospectors licenced to operate in the NWT can apply for up to $25,000 in funding.

Eligibility:

Eligibility criteria for tourism operators (Mentees):
1. Must be a resident of the NWT.
2. Must have a valid Tourism Operator License or be a business, collective or organization that is engaged in the tourism sector.
3. Must be legally entitled to be a business in the NWT.
4. Business plan would be an asset.

Application Steps:

Applicants must:
1. complete an application form.
2. send the application form to their regional office.

Documentation Needed:

Applicants must attach all required documents identified in the application checklist.

Other Things to Note:

Call for applications normally issued in March with a deadline in April.
