Enhancement Fund: Start-up Funding

Description:
Start-up funding is available through the Enhancement Fund for:
a) child care centres; and
b) family day homes.
Comments on Funding:
Funding takes the form of grants of:
– up to $10,000 both in Whitehorse and in Communities for child care centres that are in the process of licensing a child care program.
– up to $1,000 both in Whitehorse and in Communitie for family day homes that are in the process of getting licensing to ensure their health and safety standards meet Child Care Regulations.
Continuous Intake
Eligibility:
Applicants must:
1. be licensed child care centres; or
2. be family day homes;
3. be established in Whitehorse and in rural communities of Yukon;
4. Child care centres and Family day homes that are in the process of getting their license can apply for start-up funding.
Application Steps:
Applicants must:
1. download the application form;
2. talk to the Early Learning and Child Care Unit about their application. Call Early Learning and Child Care Unit at 867-667-3492 or toll free 1-800-661-0408, extension 3492. They can also talk to their child care inspector;
3. send the completed application to:

Documentation Needed:
Applicants must submit:
1. a completed application form;
2. 1 written quote for each item or project in your application; and
3. 2 written quotes for any items over $1,000.
4. all the required documents, as requested.
Other Things to Note:
Each licensed child care program can only apply for funding from the Enhancement Fund once every fiscal year.
Our fiscal year is from April 1 to March 31.
