Description:
The Paid Sick Leave Rebate provides workers and self-employed Yukoners with up to 40 hours of paid sick leave per program year.
Comments on Funding:
The program covers up to 40 hours of wages per employee per year. Employees with multiple jobs will only be covered for up to 40 hours in total across all employers.
The Paid Sick Leave Rebate is available until March 31, 2026. The program is split into 12-month periods:
April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025
April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026

Eligibility:
Applicants must be:
1. Yukon employees of Yukon employers whose regular hourly wage is less than or equal to the average Yukon private sector wage of $33.94 per hour.
Employers are eligible to apply if:
1. they do not provide 40 hours of paid sick leave to their employees; and
2. their employees and business are Yukon-based.
Yukon-based businesses are those that meet 3 of the following:
1. has an office with a physical address in the Yukon;
2. is subject to the Yukon Income Tax Act;
3. is registered as per the Business Corporations Act or the Partnership and Business Name Act, where applicable; and
4. has a valid municipal business licence where applicable.
The employee must:
1. be a Yukon resident with a valid Yukon health care card; and
2. have worked for the employer for at least 90 days prior to the 1st day of leave. Returning seasonal workers who are Yukon residents (such as university students) may count days worked in previous seasons towards this total.”
