Description:

Summer Career Placement program is for hiring a Yukon youth or student in secondary or post-secondary school.

Comments on Funding:

The amount of the subsidy is $8.25 per hour to a maximum of 600 hours between May 1 and September 1.

Eligibility:

Applicants must:

1. be private business
2. be municipality
3. be First Nation
4. be non-profit organization
5. must have operated at least 1 year in Yukon before applying to the program.

Who can you hire?
You can hire students and youth who are:
1. legally entitled to work in Canada;
2. a new employee, not currently working with your company; and
3. not members of the employer’s immediate family.
A student is a person over the age of 15 who attended a secondary, post-secondary or vocational school full-time during the current academic year for at least 1 semester. There is no maximum age for students.

A youth is a person between the ages of 15 and 25 who does not meet the definition of a student. To qualify, a youth must have been a Yukon resident since March 1, 2023.

Applicants must:

1. Complete the summer career placement form.
2. Submit your application.
