Training and Business Development: Training
The Training program provides funding for:
a) attending agricultural courses, seminars, workshops and conferences;
b) participating in mentorship opportunities;
c) hosting agricultural courses, seminars, workshops and conferences.

Amount
Commercial applicants: up to a maximum of 60 per cent of project costs, cumulative maximum of $125,000 over the lifetime of the program (increased to $250,000 for major projects); New entrants and small businesses: up to a maximum of 60 per cent of project costs, cumulative maximum of $30,000 over the lifetime of the program; Non-profit organizations, governments and institutions: up to a maximum of 100 per cent of project costs

About the funding
Staff training or development is an eligible activity that must meet certain criteria. Certain eligible activities may have different maximums. The Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership Guidance document gives the funding limits for certain eligible activities. New entrants and small businesses receive funding in 2 phases. Phase 1 covers participating in training related to agriculture and developing a business plan. Phase 2 gives cumulative funding up to a maximum of $20,000 to implement priority components identified in the business plan. The Agriculture Branch may approve a different funding amount than the one requested. The 1st payment is issued only after both parties sign the transfer payment agreement.
