Who can apply

The Individual Artist Grant Program is intended to support the creation of new work in any art form, or the development, production, curation, or exhibition of works of art by Winnipeg artists.

Artists working as part of a collective to produce non-individual works may be directed to the Project Grant program rather than the Individual Artist Grant program. Collectives must contact the Grants Consultant before applying to confirm eligibility and determine the correct program to apply to.

About the funding

Two types of grants are available, depending on an artist’s level of accomplishment and experience in the discipline of the proposed project. The Grant amounts are as follows:

(A) grant of up to $7,000 for mid-career and established artists

(B) grant of up to $3,000 for emerging artists.

Professional artists who are Deaf or who have disabilities who make an application to the Winnipeg Art Council’s Individual Artist grant program may be eligible for additional support for Accessibility costs. Artists identifying as such should contact the Grants Consultant in advance of the application date for details.

Eligible expenses are those which assist the artist in the completion of the project.
