Description:
Delivered in partnership with National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP), BC Fast Pilot program is a high impact offering under Innovate BC’s suite of Integrated Marketplace commercialization programs.
The BC Fast Pilot program supports B.C.’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by facilitating the pilot testing of domestic technology innovations in real-world environments. This program helps SMEs measure and prove the value of their solutions through pilot-scale installation and field testing with an early adopter thereby de-risking the technology for potential customers.

Projects may receive up to $200,000 in joint funding, depending on available funds.

Eligibility:
Applicants must:
1. Be a B.C.-based, incorporated business;
2. Have less than 500 employees on payroll;
3. Have developed a prototype and are ready to demonstrate the technology at a customer site;
4. Have an early adopter or potential customer identified;
5. Meet the eligibility criteria for financial support from NRC IRAP and;
6. Secure an NRC IRAP ITA (see guidelines for details).
Application Steps:
Applicants must:
1. Connect with IRAP to get assigned an ITA forSMES’s without an IRAP ITA. For more information
on finding an ITA, visit: https://nrc.canada.ca/en/support-technology-innovation/nrc-irap-advisoryservices or contact IRAP Client Engagement Advisors at 1-877-994-4727. SMEs should allow 2-3 weeks
to undergo an evaluation to get assigned an ITA.
2. Request an “Expression of interest for B.C. Fast Pilot” form from their local IRAP ITA. It is
highly recommended that SMEs work with their ITA to fill out the form to ensure all requirements are
met. Completed forms will be reviewed and submitted by the ITA to the B.C. Fast Pilot Joint Review
Committee (JRC), which consists of representatives from both IRAP and Innovate BC. Submitted
applications will be screened, evaluated, and selected by the JRC for next steps.
3. Submit a full IRAP project proposal. The SME will work with their
ITA to develop a full proposal according to standard IRAP practices.
