Description:

Persons with disabilities may have specific needs in their workplace. In some cases, the work environment must be adapted according to the person’s abilities to meet the requirements of the job. In these situations, it is possible to reimburse the employer for certain costs necessary for the integration or retention of this clientele.

Comments on Funding:

Financial assistance can take several forms, including:

salary support to compensate for the disabled person’s lack of productivity and the additional support required by their functional disabilities;
coverage of certain additional expenses, for example, to make the workplace accessible or to adapt the workstation of the person hired.
The measure includes the reimbursement of costs related to the following components:

salary support;
assessment;
accompaniement;
salary compensation for medical treatments;
accessibility of workplaces;
adaptation of the workstation;
interpreting;
technological assistance enabling support and assistance in accomplishing the task
special consideration.
These activity components may be complementary; it is possible to finance more than one component within the same agreement or through successive agreements.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for active measures, the person must meet one of the following criteria:

Be an employment insurance recipient.
Being a provider of last resort financial assistance.
Be a person without public income support (who does not receive employment insurance or last resort financial assistance).
Be a person who receives support offered by another public plan (Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail, Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec, Régime de rentes du Québec). They can benefit from the CIT measure for services not covered by the plan concerned.
Be a temporary foreign worker.
Both part-time and full-time students can benefit from the measure.

Characteristics of eligible employment
The employment covered by the measure must correspond to the person’s abilities and not unduly confront them with their disabilities.
Tasks should be reasonably adapted to the person’s abilities and disabilities.
A person can participate in the measure for more than one job at a time, within a maximum total schedule of 40 hours per week.
The job must be a minimum of 12 hours worked per week.
The job must constitute a vacant or additional position.
This can be a temporary or permanent job.
The position held must be located in Quebec.
